Barack Obama (born 1961) is an American politician who served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. He was the first African American to hold the office in U.S. history. Previously, he served as a U.S. Senator representing Illinois. During his presidency, he was known for significant healthcare reform (Obamacare), efforts to lead the economic recovery following the 2008 financial crisis, and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.
